On August 31, a delegation from the Republic of South Ossetia, which included Minister of Foreign Affairs A.M. Dzhioev, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Z.N. Driaev, and Head of the Department for cooperation with Foreign Institutions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs A.G. Sanakoev, participated in a solemn farewell ceremony of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Republic of Abkhazia Oleg Botsiev.

On 29 August, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev hosted a meeting with Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia in Italy Mauro Murgia and Head of the Veneto-Russia Association Palmarino Zoccateli, who arrived in Tskhinval on a working visit.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia deeply regrets to announce the untimely passing of Oleg Ilych Botsiev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Republic of Abkhazia.

On 26 August, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev took part in a video conference between Tskhinval, Sukhum and Moscow at the Sputnik South Ossetia press centre, timed to coincide with the Day of Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia by Russia.

26 August marks the seventeenth anniversary of the recognition of the state independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation.

On 25 August, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia A.M. Dzhioev took part in a round table discussion entitled ‘The Republic of South Ossetia before and after the recognition of its state independence by the Russian Federation,’ organised by the Republican Political Party Unity as part of the celebrations marking the 17th anniversary of the recognition of the state independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev sent a congratulatory letter to the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin on the occasion of his birthday.

The congratulation, in particular, reads:

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia A.M. Dzhioev extended a congratulatory letter to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Yvan Gil on the occasion of his birthday.

On August 14, on the day of the beginning of the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia 1992-1993, prayer services were served in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Trinity Church in Tskhinval in memory of civilians and the fallen defenders of the Fatherland. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia A.M. Dzhioev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of South Ossetia A.M. Elbakiev attended the services.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia A. M. Dzhioev extended a note to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia O. M. Bartsits in connection with the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of the Fatherland.
