During 10-20 January 2014 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia David Sanakoev and Mayor of Tskhinval Alan Alborov were on business trip to Italy. The purpose of the visit was to sign a Friendship Agreement between Tskhinval and Lanusei with participation of Friendship Association Italy - South Ossetia. On 13 January 2014 the agreement was signed in Lanusei between Mayor of Tskhinval Alan Alborov and Mayor of Lanusei Davide Ferreli. The document should facilitate improvement of relations between the cities, strengthen friendship and cultural ties between Italian and South-Ossetian people.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of RSO David Sanakoev was welcomed in San Marino by representatives of Friendship Association Italy - South Ossetia and special representative of the MFA of RSO in San Marino Mr. Epifanio Troina, those people are promoting information about South Ossetia, strengthen image of South Ossetia in Europe,s extending close political and cultural ties between South Ossetia and Italy.
The Minister carried out a number of meetings with representatives of political parties of Italy, namely with the Chairman of Socialist party Mr. Augusto Kazali, Chairman of Parliamentary group at the Parliament of San Marino Mr. Parido Andreoli, representative of Christian-Democratic party Mr. Gabriel Gatti and Chairman of party Mr. Sinistra Unita Ivan Foski. At those meetings David Sanakoev familiarizes the participants with the history and political situation in South Ossetia.
During the visit to Italy were organized meetings with Mayor of Tertenia town Mr. Loddo Luchiano and Mayor of Teralba town Mr. Paolo Piras. During the meetings were discussed issues of urban and municipal development of the towns. David Sanakoev and Alan Alborov visited a number of enterprises, recreational centers, carried out meetings with entrepreneurs of Ogliastra province, representatives of tourist and hotel industry and discussed possible cooperation of the sides.
On 27 January Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia David Sanakoev and Head of Tskhinval city Administration Alan Alborov carried out a press-conference for local mass-media on the results of their trip to Italy.
