Commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia

On the statement of the MFA of Georgia

On 28 May 2013 MFA of Georgia expressed its strong feelings in respect of the so called self-willed shift of the border of South Ossetia by Russian military and erection of barbed wire in the vicinity of villages Ditsi and Dvani.

As it is know, state border of South Ossetia with Georgia is currently patrolled by Russian border guards in accordance with the interstate agreement signed in April 2009. All the works on demarcation of state border between South Ossetia and Georgia and its fixation is done in full agreement with the legislation of Republic of South Ossetia.

Activities of the border guards by no means affect sovereignty of neighboring Georgia. There were no self-willed shifts done by the Russian border guards. Therefore, all the indignations of the representatives of Georgian authorities are just provocations meant for people that leave along the border.

As per the Constitution of Republic of South Ossetia, territory of our state is within the bounds of former South-Ossetia autonomous oblast. South Ossetia is an independent recognized state and will independently define its borders whether it is liked by Georgia or not.
