On possibilities provided to citizens of South Ossetia for studying at diplomatic institutions of higher education

Staring from 2010 graduates of South Ossetia are given opportunities for studying at specialized higher education institutions of Russia, based on Decree of the President of Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev on education and strengthening of diplomatic staff for Republic of South Ossetia, namely at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of MFA of RF, Diplomatic Academy of the MFA of RF, the same opportunities are given to postgraduate students at the named universities.

Selection of graduates, willing to enter Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), is done on a competitive bases by a commission, establishes by Decree of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The competitive examination includes interview on three languages (Ossetian, Russian, English), as well as written exam in Russian and English languages. Based on the results of the competitive examination MFA of RSO recommends the most successful graduates of South Ossetian schools.

Those that would like to study at the Diplomatic Academy, has to have higher education. An application should be submitted to MFA RSO, the applicants will be recommended by MFA of RSO for studying at the Diplomatic Academy.

Our young state needs professionals, that is why all those that will be recommended by the MFA of RSO for studying at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), will have to sign an agreement according to which they are obliged to return to the Republic and start working here.

Currently there are 13 students from South Ossetia at the Diplomatic Academy and 18 students at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), all of them are studying there on the bases of the Decree of the RF President. Almost all them are showing good results and are passing the exams successfully at their universities.
Graduates that want to participate at the competitive examinations for entering Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) this year, should know that documents are accepted till 25th April 2013. An application should be addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. They also should submit a document confirming that the graduate was studying in Republic of South Ossetia for the last three years, certified by the Ministry of Education and Science, copy of the passport and two photos. The competitive examinations are tentatively planed to take place in beginning of May 2013.
