Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia

Last Thursday, June 21, 2012 XVII International Economic Forum started in St. Petersburg; it will last for three days. The event is attended by several thousand people, including a delegation from the Republic of South Ossetia consisting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs D.G. Sanakoyev, Acting Minister of Economic Development A.V. Khabalova and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation D. N. Medoyev.

The main topics of the forum will be a debt crisis in Europe, ‘Arab spring’ impact on the global economy, as well as the prospects of nuclear power after the ‘Fokushima-1’reactor wreck in Japan. Participants also plan to discuss the development of the Caucasus, the Far East, the implementation of the innovation cluster in Skolkovo, the situation on the commodity markets. The South Ossetian delegation visited the exhibitions of the forum participants and took part in the sessions and discussions of the forum sites.
