On 19 September, the Republic of South Ossetia marks the Day of the State Flag – one of the main symbols of sovereignty, independence and rich cultural heritage.
The Ossetian tricolour, revived in 1989 during the national liberation movement, has become the embodiment of the resilience, self-identity and unshakeable unity of our people.
The traditional colour scheme of the flag – white, red and yellow – symbolises world and social harmony, uniting the memory of the heroic ancestors of Ossetia and the confident movement towards a peaceful and prosperous future.
