On the 22nd anniversary of the terrorist act in Beslan

МИД Южной Осетии

On September 1-3, commemorative events are being held in Ossetia dedicated to the twenty-second anniversary of one of the most terrible tragedies in modern history – the terrorist act at School No. 1 in the city of Beslan.

For the people of Ossetia, this date will forever remain a day of deep sorrow and an unhealing wound. We remember those September days of 2004, when the whole world froze in anticipation, and the hearts of Ossetians on both sides of the Caucasus Range beat in unison, praying for the salvation of children, teachers and parents who became hostages of inhuman terrorists.

The Beslan tragedy has no statute of limitations. The pain of loss is not dulled by time, and the memory of the innocent victims – children whose lives were cut short at the very beginning of their journey, and adults who defended their loved ones until their last breath – is sacred for each of us. This crime, which has no justification, has become a common grief that has united our people even stronger.

On this mournful day, we express our sincere words of condolence and support to the families and friends of the victims and bow our heads before the courage of those who went through this hell.

Bright memory to all the victims. We remember. We mourn.
