We received with deep sorrow the news of the untimely death of Igor Muratovich Akhba, a statesman and political figure of Abkhazia, a true patriot and a worthy son of the Abkhaz people, a prominent and principled diplomat and a great friend of South Ossetia and the South Ossetian diplomatic service — the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Russian Federation.
The name of Igor Muratovich is associated with an entire era in the modern history of Abkhazia, and his life path is a vivid example of service to the people and the Motherland, whose interests he defended and protected every day.
An extraordinary, kind, and responsive man of great spiritual strength and inner dignity, a friend and mentor with outstanding organizational and professional qualities, has passed away.
