On August 8, in Sukhumi, as part of the international forum “Young Abkhazia,” a meeting was held between Astamur Katsia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Republic of Abkhazia, and representatives of the “Young Abkhazia” movement.
A. Katsia thanked the movement’s representatives for preserving the memory of the events of August 2008, emphasizing that 18 years ago, on those days, the people of South Ossetia defended their right to freedom and independence.
The head of the “Young Abkhazia” delegation, Said Kulanba noted that Abkhazia remembers and honors the events of August 2008, and emphasized that the peoples of Abkhazia and South Ossetia have a common history.
The parties also emphasized the importance of further interaction between the youth organizations of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia.
The “Young Abkhazia” forum is taking place in Sukhumi on August 7–8, 2026. A delegation from South Ossetia is also taking part in it.
