We have taken note of the latest report of the Public Defender of Georgia for 2025 on the state of protection of human rights and freedoms, including in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which presents distorted and factually inaccurate information.
Such reports, regularly issued by the Georgian Ombudsman, are of an exclusively politicised character and do not reflect an objective picture. They constitute nothing other than an attempt to preserve the illusion of influence and to deny the sovereignty of South Ossetia. Instead of addressing domestic problems and the genuine protection of the rights of its own citizens — to which European institutions have repeatedly drawn attention of late — Georgia, regrettably, continues to pursue this destructive policy.
We once again call upon the Georgian side to focus on building constructive relations with neighbouring States.
