On 10 June, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia A.M. Dzhioev presented awards to the winners and participants of the video essay contest "Independence Is a Responsibility: The Future of South Ossetia Is in the Hands of the Youth" / "Хæдбардзинады бæрн: Хуссар Ирыстоны фидæн – фæсивæды къухы".
The contest, dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the proclamation of the Act of Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia, was held among pupils of grades 9–11 of the Republic's schools. The winners were determined in two ways: by user voting in the Ministry's Telegram channel and by decision of an expert commission composed of staff members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia and the South Ossetian State University (SOSU). The winner of the user vote was the work of Elizaveta Bestaeva (Secondary School No. 2), while the expert commission selected the work of Aslan Valiev (Dmenis Secondary School).
Akhsar Dzhioev thanked the schoolchildren for their participation in the contest and congratulated the winners, wishing them all success in life, and also expressed the hope that such events would be held in the future.
Both winners of the contest received equal monetary awards. In addition, all participants were presented with certificates of participation and commemorative prizes.
