Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in connection with the situation in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

МИД Южной Осетии

On the night of January 3, 2026, the U.S. armed forces attacked the territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Civilian and military facilities located in Caracas, the capital of the Republic and in the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira were hit.

This act is a gross violation of the UN Charter and the fundamental principles of international law, which may have unpredictable consequences for peace and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean, and seriously endangers the lives of millions of people.

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is taking measures to protect the population and the country, as well as the functioning of public authorities.

South Ossetia condemns the attack on the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and calls on the Governments of responsible sovereign States and international organizations to take effective steps to prevent escalation and resolve the situation through diplomatic means as soon as possible.
