Speaking at the 32nd meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Vienna, M. Botchorishvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, did not fail to voice a set of templates about “occupation”, so-called territorial integrity of Georgia and other reality challenged statements.
We shall leave to Mrs. Botchorishvili’s conscience the “ignorance” of the well-known fact, confirmed by the results of investigation conducted by the EU international commission headed by H. Tagliavini, that Georgia was the aggressor against South Ossetia in August 2008.
Similar verbal gymnastics of the official Tbilisi with the use of obvious arguments once again confirm the threat of double-standard policy being applicated. Instead of substantive discussion on the issue of security guarantees for South Ossetia we are witnessing another attempt to shift the focus of attention from the existing political status quo to abstraction.
Such a biased approach of the Georgian side, which verbally recognizes the effectiveness of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia, in no way contribute to implementing confidence building measures and conducting a constructive negotiation process, in which OSCE representatives also participate.
It's time for Tbilisi to stop dreaming about collecting lands and adjust itself to pragmatism in the perception of reality.
