On August 7-8, commemorative events, dedicated to the 17th anniversary of the beginning of Georgia’s armed aggression against South Ossetia were held in the Republic of South Ossetia.
On August 7, photo exhibition named “08.08.08 – 08.08.25” was opened, a solemn mourning ceremony was held at the memorial complex dedicated to the Defenders of South Ossetia, where the participants of the action laid flowers, lit candles in memory of the fallen and watched a documentary, dedicated to the August war.
On August 8, flowers were laid to the places of death of the defenders of South Ossetia, including the destroyed barracks of the Russian peacekeepers and the Tree of Sorrow – the central monument of the “Museum of Burned Souls” in the village of Tbet. Memorial services for the victims of the August war were held in churches of the Republic.
The play “Forever Alive”, based on the piece by Victor Rozov, will be performed in the K.L. Khetagurov State Drama Theater.
The commemorative events were attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev and employees of the Ministry.
