On 5 May, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia A.M. Dzhioev took part in a solemn ceremony - presentation of a series of commemorative coins dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the heroes of the Soviet Union from South Ossetia.
The coins were issued by the National Bank of South Ossetia on the initiative of the President of South Ossetia A.E. Gagloev.
The event, which took place at the South Ossetian State Drama Theatre named after K.L. Khetagurov, was attended by the leadership of the Republic, headed by President Alan Gagloev, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, Director of the Moscow Mint Andrey Ivantsov, home front veterans and relatives of veterans the Great Patriotic War.
The series includes eight coins with images of heroes of the USSR: Alexey Ostaev, Sergey Koblov, Vasily Chochiev, Konstantin Kochiev, Grigory Sabanov, Georgy Beruashvili, Ivan Tskhovrebov, and Sardion Kozaev. One coin is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the USSR Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The coins are minted at the Moscow Mint. The circulation is 200 copies of coins with images of Heroes of the Soviet Union and 300 copies of coins dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory.
