On 2 October, according to the Syrian Ministry of Defence, the Israeli Air Force launched airstrikes against targets in coastal cities in the west part of the Syrian Arab Republic. As a result of the attack, three civilians were killed and another three people were wounded.
South Ossetia strongly condemns the actions of the Israelis, which constitute a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic and the fundamental norms of international law. The targets of the strikes were once again vital Syrian civilian infrastructure and, most importantly, the civilian population among whom there are casualties.
Given the continuing escalation of violence in the Middle East, such aggression is unacceptable and fraught with extremely dangerous consequences.
We call for strict adherence to the principle of the non-use of force and the search for political and diplomatic solutions to the existing tensions in the region.
