On July 11-15, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia took part in the Eurasian Forum of Young Diplomats, which was held on the sidelines of the Manzherok Festival in Gorno-Altaisk.
The event was organized by the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with Rossortudnitchestvo, the United Russia party and the Government of the Altai Republic.
More than 80 participants from 13 countries, including Russia, Abkhazia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China and Syria took part in the Forum.
The program of the Forum, which theme was defined as’’ Diplomacy of the new multipolar world’’, included a number of expert sessions, dedicated to relevant issues of cooperation between the countries of Greater Eurasia, such as strengthening cooperation in the EAEU, building a Greater Eurasian Partnership, development of ‘’soft power’’, search for new growth points in conditions of the sanctions.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the participants of the event with a video-greeting and also noted that building constructive, fruitful cooperation with friends, allies and like-minded people in Eurasia is an absolute priority of Russia.
The Forum is a vivid example of the concept of ‘’ horizontal diplomacy’’ implemented on the development of a network of informal communication platforms for young diplomats, officials and experts. Its aim is to strengthen the atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding between young employees of foreign ministries of friendly countries.
