On March 9, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Inal Ardzinba
The heads of the foreign ministries discussed the current agenda of bilateral cooperation, including maintaining an active political dialogue in the context of regional security.
During the conversation, the parties paid special attention to the internal political situation in neighboring Georgia and expressed concern about the escalation of tension and possible destabilization of the situation, fraught with undesirable consequences in the South Caucasus region.
A. M. Dzhioev and I. B. Ardzinba were unanimous in their opinion on the need for close attention to the situation developing in Georgia, as well as coordination of joint actions to level possible threats to the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia. The role of the Russian Federation as a guarantor of peace and security in the region was emphasized.
