On December 18, in Rome, in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, a protest action against the decision of the EU Council on non-recognition of Russian passports issued, among others, in territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, was organized by Mauro Murgia, Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in Italy.
The participants of the action brought flags of Russia, South Ossetia, Abkhazia and the Donbass Republics to the building of the Italian Foreign Ministry.
Representative of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry in Italy Mauro Murgia noted that the ban on freedom of movement was a form of racism and a shameful discrimination not only on political but also on ethnic basis. Mauro Murgia emphasized that over many years South Ossetia and Abkhazia had been suffering of unfair international isolation, while Italy could break it by taking steps towards recognizing these Republics.
