A joint news conference of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Dmitrii Medoev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov dedicated to the 10th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between South Ossetia and Russia was held in the press-center of Sputnik IA on September 7.
The participants of the conference told about development of the interstate relations over the last years and about future joint projects.
It was noted that the parties succeeded in laying a strong foundation for friendship and mutually beneficial interstate cooperation, which is basing on a substantial legal framework, including more than 100 agreements of various levels covering all fields of interaction.
The Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance signed between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation on September 17, 2008 became a solid foundation for the bilateral cooperation.
Another thing the Minister and the Ambassador have marked was that strong business relations have developed between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia and Russia. Consultations between the Ministries are conducted on regular basis and running issues are discussed, including interaction of South Ossetia and Russia at the Geneva Discussions.
Dmitrii Medoev emphasized that South Ossetia considers Russia a fraternal state, which has historically and culturally been familiar to our state, and reminded of the first Embassy of Ossetia to Russia, which had laid foundation for the bilateral relations.
The participants expressed confidence that the results achieved in development of the bilateral relations were encouraging and inspiring for further work on strengthening of the allied cooperation for the benefit of the people of two states and in the interests of security and stability in Transcaucasia.
