Press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia

The jubilee Fifth Young Diplomats Forum, organized by the Board of Young Diplomats under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation with the assistance of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, was held in Moscow on July 26-27, 2018.

Upon an invitation from the organizers, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, delegates from Abkhazia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Tajikistan participated in the work of the Forum.

Global changes in the system of international relations and digitalization of global economy and education were key themes of the Forum. The delegates exchanged opinion on modern international political environment and the possibilities of participation of young diplomats in processes of horizontal diplomacy.

Leonid Slutsky, the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee for the CIS Affairs, Oleg Morozov, Member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Alexey Drobinin, Deputy Director of the Foreign Policy Planning Directorate of the Russian MFA, and other Russian experts became speakers on the Forum’s sidelines.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of recognition of the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia by the Russian Federation, which will be celebrated on August 26, 2018, Aleksandra Tskhovrebova, attaché of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, made a report about that political event, which became the major factor of provision of security in the Republic of South Ossetia, and about military presence of Russia in the region, which is the key condition for maintaining stability of the system of regional security.

A Declaration supporting the idea of founding the Young Diplomats Association was adopted at the end of the forum.
