Pertaining to the appointment of a Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia
Under the President Decree dated May 25, 2017 Dmitriy Medoev was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia.

Dmitriy Medoev was born on May 15, 1960 in Tskhinval.
Education:
1982 - South Ossetian State University, Faculty of History and Philology;
1986 – 1989 – Graduate Assistant in the Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography of the GSSR Academy of Sciences;
1999 – 2001 – Attendee of the Diplomatic Academy of the MFA of Russian Foreign Ministry (graduated with a degree in foreign relations);
2003 – Graduate Assistant in the Diplomatic Academy of the MFA of Russian Foreign Ministry. Thesis of Ph. D dissertation “Russian policy in Transcaucasia: challenges and perspectives”. Candidate of political science.
Professional experience:
1986 – 1993 – Senior Science Officer of South Ossetian Research Institute named after Z.N. Vaneev;
1990 – 1994 – Deputy to the Supreme Council of the Republic of South Ossetia of the I convocation;
1994 – 1996 – Minister of External Relations of the Republic of South Ossetia;
2002 – 2008 – Adviser of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia – Plenipotentiary of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation;
2008 – 2015 – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation;
Since 2015 – Director of Coordinating Research Council of the Diplomatic Academy of the MFA of Russian Foreign Ministry.
Is awarded with National Awards of the Republic of South Ossetia (holder of the Order of Friendship, medal “On guard for peace in South Ossetia”), the Russian Federation (Russian Foreign Ministry’s medal “For strengthening interstate relations”), the Republic of Abkhazia (Order of Honor and Glory, 3rd class), the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (Order of Merit).
Is married, has two sons.
