On 7-8 August in the Republic of South Ossetia were held mournful events dedicated to the second anniversary of armed aggression of Georgia against the Republic of South Ossetia.
On 7 August at 23:35 in Tskhinval an action “Alive Light of Memory” was held and a requiem concert took place in which musicians from South and North Ossetia as well as the Moscow Rakhmaninov symphony orchestra took part. Leadership of the Republic headed by the President Eduard Kokoity attended the action.
On 8 August the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity and the members of the Government and the Parliament of Republic laid flowers to the places of death of the defenders of South Ossetia and Russian peacekeepers in the fights against Georgian aggressors in August 2008. Also wreath-laying ceremony to remains of the burnt vehicles in “Museum of burnt souls” took place, and memorial “Symbol of Grief” was opened.
Memorial events also were held in Embassies of the Republic of South Ossetia in Moscow, Sukhum and Tiraspol.
