Four years after the August 2008 armed aggression of Georgia against South Ossetia the situation in the region is complex and characterized by the Georgian leadership intention to carry out large-scale provocations. Despite the impact of August 2008 Georgian authorities leave no revanchist sentiments.

On the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia D.G. Sanakoyev with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov

On October 9, 2012 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia D.G. Sanakoyev had a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as a part of his first official visit to the Russian Federation.

From August 31 to September 3, the official delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia led by the Chairman of the Parliament of South Ossetia Kochieva S.Y. visited the Transdniestria Moldavian Republic, which was celebrating the 22nd anniversary of the proclamation of independence. The delegation also included Deputy Foreign Minister of South Ossetia Tskhovrebov K.I. and the Head of Translation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Tadtaev S.Y.

August 15-17, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Republic of South Ossetia Hugo Jose Garcia Hernandez paid a working visit to South Ossetia.

During the visit, Ambassador Hernandez was received by the President of the Republic of South Ossetia L.Kh. Tibilov. He also had a talk to the Minister of Foreign Affairs D.G. Sanakoyev.

An Embassy of the Republic of South Ossetia in Russian Federation in Moscow today played host for the meeting of the first deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of South Ossetia Kazbulat Tskhovrebov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nauru Kieren Keke who is in Moscow with working visit.

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia in Russian Federation Dmitry Medoev has also taken part in the meeting.

On July 14, 2012 in the capital of South Ossetia are under way the memorable events dedicated to the Peacekeeper’s Day. 20 years ago sharp on the bases of Agreement of main principles of Georgian-Ossetian conflict settlement signed by Heads of Russia, Georgia, North and South Ossetia on June 24, 1992 in the town of Sochi, in georgian-ossetian conflict zone entered tripotide peacekeeping forces. They become a buffer between conflicting sides.

On June 25, 2012 a meeting of the of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia D.G. Sanakoyev with State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation G.B. Karasin was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

In the course of the conversation the sides discussed topical issues of further expansion of the cooperation in the main fields of foreign policy, economic and cultural cooperation; and indicated the significance of the Geneva discussions on issues of security and stability in the Transcaucasia.
