The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, A.M. Dzhioev, sent a note expressing solidarity and support to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, O.M. Bartsits, in connection with the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of the Fatherland.
The note states, in particular:
“Thirty‑four years ago, Abkhazia entered a period of extremely difficult trials that determined the fate of the people of Apsny.” The Patriotic War, which began on August 14, 1992, was a test of endurance: in the struggle for freedom and self‑determination, the people of Abkhazia faced aggression from Georgia, which resulted in enormous human losses and the destruction of cultural heritage and infrastructure. The harsh conditions of the blockade only underscore how costly the victory was. Resilience, unity, and unshakable faith in justice enabled the people of Apsny to endure and win.
