The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, Akhsar Dzhioev, sent a congratulatory message to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua Valdrack Ludwing Jaentschke Whitaker on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the recognition of the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Republic of Nicaragua.
The message states, in particular:
"The significant date of September 3, 2008 marked the starting point in the history of interstate relations between our two countries, laying a solid foundation for strong friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation. This decisive act of justice and principled stance became a powerful support and a tremendous incentive for our Republic during a pivotal historical period.
For 17 years, the people of South Ossetia have felt the brotherly bond of the Nicaraguan people, highly valuing the firm and consistent support from the leadership of Nicaragua, based on the norms of international law, the principles of equality, justice and solidarity."
Akhsar Dzhioev also sent a congratulatory message to the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Republic of South Ossetia Alba Azucena Torres Mejia.
