On the participation of the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in the commemorative events in the city of Brest

On June 22, Belarus commemorates the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People. On this day, the people of Belarus honor those who sacrificed their lives in defense of their homeland, recalls all those who died at the hands of the fascists and those who died in the rear from hunger and deprivation.

A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia participated in the events held in the city of Brest. Minister Akhsar Dzhioev visited the memorial complex “Brest Hero-Fortress”, where a patriotic meeting-requiem titled “Four Years of a Long Journey...” took place, the event was attended by the Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Belarus D. Krutoy, the State Secretary of the Union State S. Glazyev, official representatives of Belarus and Russia, heads of several subjects of the Russian Federation, representatives of public organizations, residents and guests of Brest.

Famous Russian and Belarusian performers such as Lyube, Zara, Denis Maidanov and other artists performed on the stage.

The delegation also attended the military-historical reconstruction on the territory of the Brest Fortress.

The day before, at the Northern Gate of the Museum Complex “Brest Hero-Fortress” the opening ceremony of the memorial sign dedicated to the Soviet border guards took place.

On the eve of the anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the “Train of Memory” arrived in Brest from Moscow. This train will visit memorial sites in Belarus and Russia. Among the participants in this initiative were schoolchildren from the former Soviet Union countries, including South Ossetia.
