On September 5, Akhsar Dzhioev, the South Ossetian Foreign Minister, hosted a meeting with Mauro Murgia, the Representative of the South Ossetian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Italy, who had arrived in Tskhinval on a working visit.
The delegation, headed by Mr. Murgia, included Monica Moroni, a flutist from San Marino, and Luca Pingitore, a journalist, expert on the Caucasus.
Upon an invitation from the Association of victims of terrorist attacks “Mothers of Beslan” as well as with help of the Representation Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in Italy, the delegation participated in the commemorative events, dedicated to the 18th anniversary of the Beslan tragedy.
In framework of the visit to Vladikavkaz Monica Moroni gave several concerts, including a performance in the Beslan’s school yard in memory of victims of the bloody tragedy and a meeting with students and teachers of Vladikavkaz Colleage of Arts, named after Valerii Gergiev.
Akhsar Dzhioev thanked the delegation and personally Mr. Murgia for personal contribution in development of the bilateral contacts, and conveyed words of gratitude for sympathy and support to the whole people of Italy who were among the first who had responded to the Beslan tragedy.
Issues, related to the activity of the Representation Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in Italy, the perspectives of implementing various projects in spheres of culture and education have been discussed during the meeting.
In his turn, Mauro Murgia confirmed readiness to continue his work, which would promote further strengthening of friendship and mutual understanding between the states and nations.
