Pertaining to the 10th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation
The 10th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation is celebrated on September 9.
The exchange of notes between the South Ossetian and the Russian Foreign Ministers on establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation which took place on September 9, 2008 laid the foundation for development of the highest level of interstate cooperation and became another confirmation of the consistent position of Russia in relation to support for the people of South Ossetia.
Throughout many centuries South Ossetia and Russia enjoy traditional bonds of friendship, mutual respect and support, and by common effort the relations between the two states have reached a new qualitative level of allied interaction.
The great work which has been conducted in establishment of full-fledged interstate relations over the last 10 years is another confirmation for that.
Signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance dated September 17, 2008 and the Treaty on Alliance and Integration dated March 18, 2015 became a solid foundation for the bilateral cooperation.
The legal framework accounting more than 100 bilateral agreements of various levels which cover all fields of interaction is consistently being improved and extended throughout joint works.
People in South Ossetia receive with sincere gratitude the invaluable help of the Russian Federation in solution of social and economic problems of the young state, in promoting its positions at international arena, in peacekeeping activities in the land of South Ossetia and maintaining stability in the region.
Significant results achieved by the states over the last years are encouraging and inspiring for further work on strengthening of the allied cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
On the occasion of the anniversary Ministers of Foreign Affairs Dmitrii Medoyev and Sergey Lavrov exchanged congratulatory messages.
