Press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia

March 7, 2018 saw another assembly of the executive group, organized at the Direction of Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, dated January 15, 2018 on establishment of an executive group, affiliated with the South Ossetian Presidential Administration, to ensure the holding of the presidential elections in the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia, appointed for March 18, 2018.

The South Ossetian Foreign Minister Dmitrii Medoev, the Deputy Chief of Administration of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Konstantin Pukhaev, the Chairman of Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of South Ossetia Bella Plieva, Head of Foreign Policy Directorate of Administration of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Murat Vaneev, the Minister of Education Natali Gassieva, the Chairman of the State Committee on Information and Press Maria Kotaeva and heads of the South Ossetian regions were present at the meeting. Sergey Manko, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Ossetia, was invited to the meeting as well.

Dmitrii Medoev, head of the executive group, emphasized that the elections of the President of the Russian Federation are an important political event not only for Russia, but also for South Ossetia, and assured the attendees that the authorities of the Republic would provide all the conditions for free expression of will on the voting day.

Heads of the South Ossetian regions reported on the results of the first stage of early voting, which started in remote villages of the Republic on March 5. As it was noted, the first stage of early voting passed in all regions peacefully and without violations.

Councellor Manko marked the high level of cooperation in conducting the Russian presidential election in the territory of the Republic, established between the government authorities of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in South Ossetia, and expressed gratitude for the assistance.

In conclusion Dmitrii Medoev once again urged members of the executive group to do everything possible to hold the Presidential elections in the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia at a high level.
