July 7-8 saw the official visit of Anatoliy Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, to the Republic of Abkhazia.
Dmitriy Medoev, Foreign Minister, Uruzmag Dzhagaev, Prosecutor General, Viktor Shargaev, Head of KGB, Zhanna Zasseeva, Minister of Culture, Oleg Botsiev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Republic of Abkhazia, Anatoliy Dzhidzhoev, Chair of the Public Chamber of the Republic of South Ossetia, were members of the presidential delegation.
July 7 saw a meeting of Anatoliy Bibilov and Raul Khadzhimba, South Ossetian and Abkhazian Presidents.
The key agenda of the bilateral cooperation, further development of mutually beneficial ties in various areas, strengthening relations with the international community were discussed at the high level negotiations.
An extended meeting with the official delegations of the two states was held as well.
The results of the negotiations were summarized by the Presidents in statements for mass media.
The negotiations resulted in signing of two bilateral documents.
Dmitriy Medoev and Daur Kove, South Ossetian and Abkhazian Foreign Ministers, signed the Plan of Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia and Abkhazia for 2017-2018.
Anatoliy Dzhidzhoev and Natela Akaba, Chairs of South Ossetian and Abkhazian Public Chambers, signed an Agreement on Cooperation and Interaction between the Public Chambers of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia.
In framework of the official visit the delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia paid floral tribute to the memorial to volunteers from South Ossetia who fell in the Abkhazian Patriot War of 1992-1993 raised in Gagry, to the memorial to Vladislav Ardzinba, the first President of the Republic of Abkhazia, raised in Eshery and to the memorial to victims of the Abkhazian Patriot War raised in the Park of Glory in Sukhum.
Alongside with this, the delegates visit the State Military Hall of Fame named after Vladislav Ardzinba, located in Sukhum.
The official visit of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia to Abkhazia is a significant foreign policy event and would serve for further strengthening friendship among South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Joint Statement on the Conclusion of the Official Negotiations between Raul Khadzhimba, the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, and Anatoliy Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia
The official negotiations between the Presidents of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia identified equal interest in active further dialogue on the main directions of the bilateral cooperation.
The Presidents had an in-depth discussion on current state and the perspectives of development of the bilateral cooperation, as well as on the approaches to regional and international challenges.
The Parties emphasized the importance of allied and partnership relations of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia with the Russian Federation in framework of regional stability and security, social and economic development and strengthening international positions of the two states.
The Presidents of the states marked the historically friendly nature of Abkhazian-South Ossetian relations, which are based on a firm footing of brotherhood and mutual assistance, and took a stand for active development of the bilateral cooperation in trade and economy, cultural and educational spheres, as well as on other issues of mutual interest.
The Parties expressed mutual interest in further strengthening the legal base of the bilateral relations and had a discussion on the areas of cooperation, where bilateral agreements are planned to be signed. Interaction in law enforcement, education, physical training and sports, youth policy and transport connection is among those areas.
The Parties agreed on conducting further work on coordinating activities at the international arena in general and within the format of the GID in particular.
The Parties expressed mutual interest in regular high-level contacts.
