On the resolution adopted by PACE, based on the report of Ms. Tina Acketoft

On 23 January at the winter session of PACE a final resolution was adopted. The resolution was based on the report of Tina Aketoft “Georgia and Russia: humanitarian situation in the conflict and war affected areas”. The resolution raises a number of serious questions in South Ossetia.

On August 8, 2012 on the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a round table "Iron Nykhas" was held in Tskhinval. Representatives of the Ossetian communities in Belgium, the Netherlands, the regions of the Russian Federation, Syria, Turkey, France, representatives of South Ossetia public organizations and well-known representatives of Ossetian science attended the discussions. The events of August 2008 in retrospect of the Ossetian-Georgian interrelations were discussed at the round table.

On November 28, 2012 the Embassy of the Republic of South Ossetia in Russian Federation played host for the meeting of Foreign Minister of the Republic of South Ossetia David Sanakoev with students of RF MFA Diplomatic Academy, MSIIR (University) students and students of International relations of RGSU faculty, sent from South Ossetia for teaching.

The meeting was participated by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia in RF D. N. Medoev and Ambassy staff.

Tonight, on August 7 at 10 pm, commemorative events devoted to the fourth anniversary of the armed aggression of Georgia against South Ossetia will start in the Republic of South Ossetia with the action "Exhibition of shot paintings," which will be held at the Theater Square in the center of Tskhinval.

Twenty-three years ago, November 23, 1989 a march of tens of thousands of Georgian extremists, organized by leaders of nationalist movements, with the complicity of the authorities of Georgia was stopped on the outskirts of Tskhinval. The march to Tskhinval was aimed at intimidating of Ossetians and it was to be followed by their expulsion from the territory of South Ossetia. Georgian nationalists plan was thwarted then, however, those November days were a prologue to the long struggle of the people of South Ossetia for the right to life, liberty, and human dignity.

August 8, 2012 a round table "Iron Nykhas" with the participation of the representatives of the Ossetian diaspora and foreign countries took place in Tskhinval. It was organized on the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in the frames of the commemorative events devoted to the fourth anniversary of the August 2008 armed aggression of Georgia against South Ossetia, in which hundreds of people, including Russian peacekeepers stationed in South Ossetia under an international mandate were killed.
