On 9 August 2013 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia had a meeting with a delegation from Italy headed by the President of Italy-South Ossetia Friendship Society, Professor Mauro Murgia. The meeting was carried out at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Upon greeting the guests, David Sanakoev noted that contacts with representatives of Italy are of great importance for South Ossetia. He hoped that those contacts will be extending and strengthening and will help the Republic to overcome the international isolation.

Commemoration of the fifth anniversary of Georgian aggression against Republic of South Ossetia took place at the Official Representation of Republic of South Ossetia in Pridnestrovie during the night of 8 August 2013. Head of the RSO Representation in Pridnestrovie Sergey Sugaro, his colleagues and residents of Tiraspol gathered together, despite the late hour, to remember peaceful residents and defenders of Tskhinval who passed away in August 2008 .

On 7-8 August 2013 Republic of South Ossetia commemorated fifth anniversary of the armed aggression of Georgia against Republic of South Ossetia.

On 7 August a mourning ceremony ‘Living light of memory’ started at 23:35- exactly at this point in time in August 2008 sleeping Tskhinval was first bombed. The offensive and irresponsible decision of M. Saakashvili and the Georgian leadership brought death and wounds to thousands of people, including Russian and Ossetian peacekeepers. In the memory of those who died was carried a payer service at the church of Virgin Mary in Tskhinval.

In connection with the fifth anniversary of the aggression of Georgia against RSO

South Ossetia is existing as an independent states during 22 years. During this period people of South Ossetia suffered three bloody wars unleashed by Georgia. Georgian bandits and regular forces wiped off the earth tens of Ossetian villages, carried out acts of genocide not only in South Ossetia but also on the territory of Georgia.

1 August 2013 is a morning day in Tiraspol on those defenders that fallen for the Republic and victims of armed conflict on Dnester.

At the Glory Memorial was organized traditional meeting-requiem and laying of wreaths. At the meeting participated Chairman and members of the Government., Chairman and delegates of the Supreme Counsel, representatives of the Presidential Administration, Heads of Ministries and departments, representatives of pubic and patriotic organizations.

On 30th July Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia Mr. David Sanakoev had a meeting with Ms. Valentina Kim, Head of the International Committee of Red Cross Tskhinval Office.

During the meeting we discussed ICRC operations in South Ossetia, in particular Ms. Kim informed the Minister about the recent ICRC activities. The meeting participants exchanged their opinions about a range of issues that were of mutual interest.

Georgia and its western sponsors do not leave their hopes to implement a project ‘involvement without recognition’ in South Ossetia and Abkhazia aimed to dissolve their independence. In his speech at a conference in Batumi on relations between Georgia and European Union, Representative from the European External Action Service, Mr. Gunnar Weigand suggested extension of the agreement, that is being signed, on association and free trade between Brussels and Tbilisi, on South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The suggestion of the EU Representative was fully supported by the Georgian side.

On 24th round of Geneva International Discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia

On 25-26 June 2013 another meeting in the frame International Discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia took place in Geneva. At the meeting participated delegations of Republic of South Ossetia, Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, Russian Federation, USA as well as representatives of EU, UN and OSCE. South Ossetia delegation was headed by the Presidential Envoy on post conflict resolution Mr. Murat Dzhioev.

On 27 June 2013 a special edition of newspaper ‘Vestnik of South Ossetia’ is published by the Plenipotentiary Representation (Embassy) of Republic of South Ossetia in Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. This edition is published as an attachment to PMR republican newspaper ‘Pridnestrovie’ from February 2009 on a quarterly bases.

On submitted by Georgia draft resolution on the status of displaced persons from Abkhazia and South Ossetia to United Nations General Assembly

Since 2009, the Government of Georgia had annually submitted to UN General Assembly its draft resolutions concerning displaced persons and refugees from Abhazia and South Ossetia. This year that annual resolution also is to be submitted to 67th plenary session of the UN General Assembly.
