The UN High Commissioner for Human Right Ms. Navi Pillay made a number of statements on situation in South Ossetia, during her visit to Georgia, that have nothing to do with the reality. According to the High Commissioner South Ossetia became a ‘black hole’ and ‘one of the most difficult places to access’ where ‘living conditions are steadily deteriorating’ She noted that “despite the multiple attempts and appeals on behalf of the UN General Secretary, we have been denied access to Abkhazia and South Ossetia. I myself tried to get admittance but I was rejected again”.

Agreement on acceptation of Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol into Russian Federation and creation of new subjects within Russian Federation was signed today in Moscow.

South Ossetia welcomes decision on unification of Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russian Federation. This event brought into life realization of the right of self determination of multinational Crimea is a triumph of historic fairness and supremacy of law.

Attention of the whole world is attached to the opening of ХХII winter Olympic Games, the opening will take place on 7 February 2014 in Russian Federation, in Sochi Russian Federation as the organizer and of the Olympic Games called on participants of armed conflicts, regardless countries and continents, to declare ‘Olympic ceasefire’ during the Olympic Games.

Even in the ancient Greece during the Olympic Games wars were stopped. This tradition to resolve armed conflicts by diplomatic means was later secured in resolution 48/11 of the UN GA dated 25 November 1993.

On 31 December 2013 President of Republic of South Ossetia Tibilov Leonid Kharitonovich issued a decree to release citizen of Georgia Jeparov Teimuraz Savelevich, sentenced in 2010 to 13 years of imprisonment by Supreme Court of Republic of South Ossetia as per article 278 of Criminal Code of RF.

South Ossetia side has stated a number of times at different international levels, including Geneva Discussions and meetings of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism, suggestions on mutual release of the detainers imprisoned in Georgia and South Ossetia.

Statements of NATO, US and European structures, made almost at the same time, express concerns about the border arrangement measures taken by authorities of South Ossetia along the state border line of South Ossetia and calls upon Russia to review recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia are meant to meet expectations of Georgian society.

On the fifth anniversary since recognition of State Independence of South Ossetia by Russian Federation

During decades Georgia was aiming to assert its rule over South Ossetia, using everything for suppression, including ethnic cleansing and direct genocide. Establishment of a sovereign State was the only way for people of South Ossetia to protect their right for life, freedom and human dignity under permanent threat of war from Georgia.

On 10 August 2013 police vehicle of the MIA crossed State border of the RSO from territory bordering with Georgia in village Artsev, Tskhinval region. The vehicle ignored numerous requests to leave territory of South Ossetia. Border guards of the RSO KGB border service had to make a warning shot into the air, only after that the trespassers returned to territory of Georgia. The incident was observed by EU Mission monitors.

Unfortunately, this is not the only provocative incident when representatives of Georgian armed forces try to violate border of Republic of South Ossetia.
