On 21 February 2012, during the working visit to Moscow, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia D. Sanakoev met with the Secretary of State – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation G. Karasin. Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of RSO M. Dzhioev was also present at the meeting.

During the meeting were discussed topical issues of the bilateral relations between Russian Federation and Republic of South Ossetia, as well as questions related to Geneva Discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia.

On 22-nd round of Geneva International Discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia
On 12 December 2012 another meeting in the frame of International Discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia took place.

At the meeting participated delegations from Republic of South Ossetia, Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, Russian Federation, USA as well as representatives of EU, UN and OSCE. The South Ossetian delegation was headed by the Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of South Ossetia on post conflict resolution Mr. Murat Dzhioev.

On appointment of Tibilov Daniel as an Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia in Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

On 21 December 2012 Tibilov Daniel Izrailovich was appointed as an Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia in Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela by Presidential Decree dated 21 December 2012.

In 2012 Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued its activities in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of South Ossetia, legislation and regulatory framework of the Republic. The main directions of the Ministry’s activities were as earlier determined by the development strategy of the Republic, defined by the President of the Republic of South Ossetia.

In respect of the speech of M. Saakashvili at winter session of PACE

The speech of the President Saakashvili was at the session of Parliamentary Assembly was of course tendentious and biased to South Ossetia and Russian Federation. We have not heard anything new from the president of Georgia. He had the same rhetorics as before, which is also followed by the Government of Georgia for many years and the culmination of which was the military aggression in August 2008.

On 22 January Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia received the Head of Tskhinval Office of the International Committee of Red Crossof Ms. Leanna Hutchins.

During the meeting were discussed activities of ICRC, in particular, projects planed by the organization for 2013.

The Head of MFA had positively appraised the work of ICRC for the last year and wished for further fruitful cooperation.

On the resolution adopted by PACE, based on the report of Ms. Tina Acketoft

On 23 January at the winter session of PACE a final resolution was adopted. The resolution was based on the report of Tina Aketoft “Georgia and Russia: humanitarian situation in the conflict and war affected areas”. The resolution raises a number of serious questions in South Ossetia.

On August 8, 2012 on the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a round table "Iron Nykhas" was held in Tskhinval. Representatives of the Ossetian communities in Belgium, the Netherlands, the regions of the Russian Federation, Syria, Turkey, France, representatives of South Ossetia public organizations and well-known representatives of Ossetian science attended the discussions. The events of August 2008 in retrospect of the Ossetian-Georgian interrelations were discussed at the round table.
