On March 15, in Tskhinval, a meeting was held between members of the delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia at the Gevena International Discussions with the Co-Chairs of the GID, representing the EU, the OSCE and the UN.
The agenda and the working format of the forthcoming 60th round of GID, scheduled for April 4-5, were discussed during the meeting.
Once again it was emphasized that for the time being, the GID have no alternative and remain an important element for maintaining peace and stability in the existing architecture of regional security.
The South Ossetian party has once again drawn attention of the Co-Chairs to the relevance of boosting work in the field of the development of a legally binding document on non-use of force by Georgia against South Ossetia, since the issue of maintaining strong security of the Republic, which remains the key agenda point of the Geneva Discussions over the years, depends directly on this document.
In connection with the cases of illegal crossing of the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia, the South Ossetian participants of the Discussions remained about the vitality of conducting joint activities on delimitation and demarcation of the state border with Georgia.
Special attention was paid to humanitarian issues, including, first of all, the search of the missing citizens of South Ossetia.
The parties expressed commitment to continuing further fruitful and constructive work in framework of the negotiation process.
